ken-grass.jpg Ken Moss, founder and CEO of Piedmont BioProducts, LLC is an entrepreneur with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Old Dominion University and work experience that melds a mixture of engineering expertise with the agricultural and horticulture skills learned in entrepreneurial endeavors.

Ken has mastered farming projects for cattle and crops, worked as a corporate field engineer for Volvo Trucks, and as a manufacturing process engineer at Goodyear.Subsequently Moss established and operates the largest wholesale nursery in Southside Virginia, Windy Acres Nursery, Inc.

In conjunction with the nursery operations, Moss has worked on the trademarked development of bi-products from biofuel in conjunction with Virginia Tech, and on the research and development of a bioenergy project for Southern Virginia for which he will oversee the demonstration site for the refinery. Ken will lead the installation and operations in conjunction with VPI team, and guide the utilization of farm-produced crops to produce renewable petroleum replacement products.

Moss currently serves on the Southern Alliance for the Utilization of Biomass Resources (SAUBR), and the Pittsylvania County Agriculture Development Group. Ken is married to Sherry Harris Moss; together they reside in Gretna, Virginia with their two children, Clayton and Kyndal. 

 
Investors

The Virginia Tobacco Commission is funding Phase 1 (not for profit) of the project.  The Center for Innovative Technology (State of Virginia) became the initial seed investor in Phase 2 with a $100,000 investment to be utilized in the establishment of the pilot plant and commercialization through the CIT Gap Fund that supports the expansion of technology-based industries in Southern Virginia.
